The Qantas Airways Boeing 707-138B VH-EBH 'City of Darwin' arrived at Sydney (Kingsford Smith) having completed its delivery flight from the United States (Seattle). It was also operating its first passenger service, as it entered service operating San Francisco to Sydney (Kingsford Smith). It established a record for the Honolulu - Sydney sector of this flight of 9 hours 40 minutes. It was the airline's 8th Boeing airliner.

The Ansett-ANA Vickers Viscount 832 VH-RMH operated its final revenue service. It was then withdrawn from use and prepared at Melbourne (Essendon) for delivery to Far Eastern Air Transport (FEAT).

The Juliet Flying Boats Inc Short S.25 Sunderland Mk 5 G-BJHS 'Sir Arthur Gouge' landed on the River Thames, London and was moored near the Tower Bridge. This was the ex Ansett Flying Boat Services VH-BRF 'Islander'.

The Australian Airlines Boeing 727-276A VH-TBG 'Charles Sturt' operated its final passenger service. It was then withdrawn from use and stored at Melbourne (Tullamarine) awaiting sale, having flown 57,657 hours with 43,805 cycles.

The Ansett New Zealand British Aerospace 146-300 ZK-NZM was rolled-out in the Qantas New Zealand livery. It was the first aircraft to be repainted into this livery.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 737-838 VH-XZM 'Coonawarra' arrived at Brisbane, having completed its delivery flight from the United States (Seattle / Boeing Field) as Flight QF6024. It was the airline's 200th Boeing airliner and its 75th Boeing 737.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 767-338ER VH-OGK 'City of Mackay' operated its last revenue service as Flight QF462 from Melbourne (Tullamarine) to Sydney (Kingsford Smith). It was then withdrawn from service and prepared for its ferry flight to the United States for long-term storage.
