On This Day - February 13, 1977.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 747-238B VH-EBA 'City of Canberra' performed the airline's inaugural 'Antarctic Scenic Charter' flight. It had been chartered by Dick Smith, to carry some 300 passengers on the 11 hour 30 minute flight to the southern polar region. The flight was under the command of Capt. A. Terrell.

On This Day - February 13, 2011.

The Virgin Blue Boeing 737-8FE VH-VUZ operated its last service in the original 'all-white' livery, operating Flight DJ892 from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) to Melbourne (Tullamarine). It then entered the John Holland facility to have a special livery applied.

The Airwork NZ Boeing 737-476 ZK-JTQ, wet-leased to Alliance Airlines to operate 'fly-in / fly-out' mining services in Western Australia, was ferried Brisbane - Adelaide (West Beach) - Kalgoorlie - Perth as Flight AWK001 prior to entering service the next day.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 747-438ER VH-OEF 'Sydney' was ferried from Los Angeles to San Bernardino as Flight QF6021. This was its last flight, lasting just 22 minutes. It was then prepared for sale. The aircraft had flown 79,622.58 hours with 7,379 cycles.
