The Qantas Airways Boeing 707-338C VH-EBT 'City of Bendigo' arrived at Sydney (Kingsford Smith) having completed its delivery flight from the United States (Seattle). It was the airline's 20th Boeing airliner.

The Qantas Airways Douglas C-54A-1-DO VH-EDB 'Norfolk Trader' was officially withdrawn from service and stored at Sydney (Kingsford Smith), having flown 59,881 hours with 10,632 cycles.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 747-238B VH-EBF operated its final revenue service as Flight QF46 from Christchurch (New Zealand) to Sydney (Kingsford Smith). It was then ferried from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) to Auckland (New Zealand) as Flight QF141 on return to the lessor (Boeing Equipment Holdings Company). It was then ferried from Auckland (New Zealand) to Sydney (Kingsford Smith) as Flight QF144, to undergo heavy maintenance with Qantas, prior to it being leased to PeoplExpress. On engine shut-down at Sydney at the cocclusion of this flight the aircraft had flown 44,642 hours with 13,491 cycles.
