The Qantas Empire Airways Lockheed 749-79 Constellation VT-CQR, purchased from Air India, arrived at Sydney (Kingsford Smith) having completed its delivery flight from India (Bombay). It was reregistered as VH-EAE the following day.

The Mac.Robertson Miller Airlines Douglas C-47A-30-DL VH-MMA 'RMA Ashburton' operated its final RPT service, flying from Newman to Perth. It was then withdrawn from use, having flown 54,619 hours.

The Ansett Air Freight Boeing 727-277AF VH-RMX returned to service, following its conversion to a pure freighter, operating Melbourne (Tullamarine) - Hobart - Launceston - Melbourne (Tullamarine).

The Qantas Airways Boeing 767-38ER VH-OGA 'City of Whyalla' operated a supplementary freight service as Flight QF40 from Melbourne (Tullamarine) to Auckland (New Zealand) where it was to undergo maintenance prior to entering service with Australia Asia Airlines.

The Ansett Air Freight / TNT Boeing 707-330C VH-HTC, having been stored at Perth since December 21, 1990, was leased to Global Air and reregistered as LZ-PVA. It departed on its ferry flight to the United States (Miami, Florida) where it was prepared for delivery to Global Air.
