On This Day - January 30, 1942.

The British Overseas Airways Short S.23 'C' Class Empire Flying Boat G-AEUH 'Corio' was destroyed when it was shot down off Timor (Koepang) by a Japanese fighter. The aircraft was being crewed by Qantas personnel, under the command of Capt. A. A. Koch. Three lives were lost.

The Travmar Holdings Douglas C-47-DL VH-SBO, that had been stored at Sydney (Bankstown) in the special 'Norman Gunston' livery for over 1 year, was cancelled from the Australian Aircraft Register.

On This Day - January 30, 1985.

The Air Niugini Boeing 707-338C P2-ANA (ex Qantas VH-EAB) operated its last revenue service, operating Brisbane to Port Morseby. It was withdrawn from service the next day and stored at Port Moresby until being sold to TRATCO on April 01.

On This Day - January 30, 1987.

The Ansett Airlines Boeing 737-277A VH-CZV departed Melbourne (Tullamarine) on its ferry flight to the United States (Seattle, Paine Field) as Flight AN560, where it was sold to the Wilmington Trust Company in February.

On This Day - January 30, 2005.

The Virgin Blue Boeing 737-8FE VH-VOP 'Whitney Sundays' operated its last revenue service as Flight DJ876 from Cairns to Brisbane. It was then ferried from Brisbane to Christchurch as Flight DJ9082 on delivery to Pacific Blue (NZ) and reregistered as ZK-PBB.

The Australian air Express Boeing 737-376SF VH-XMR was test flown at Melbourne (Avalon) over the next two days, having been converted to an 'all-freight' configuration.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 767-338ER VH-OGL was ferried from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) to Sydney (RAAF Richmond) to have the special 'Uniting Fans Around The World' titles and artwork, celebrating the Rugby World Cup removed from it.

The QantasLink Bombardier DHC-8-402NG C-GSZD arrived at Cairns, having completed its delivery flight from Canada (Toronto / Downsview) as Flight BBA01. It was reregistered as VH-LQH on February 05, before it entered service.
