On This Day - January 30, 1942. The British Overseas Airways Short S.23 'C' Class Empire Flying Boat G-AEUH 'Corio' was destroyed when it was shot down off Timor (Koepang) by a Japanese fighter. The aircraft was being crewed by Qantas personnel, under the command of Capt. A. A. Koch. Three lives were lost. |
