The Trans-Australia Airlines Vickers Viscount 756 VH-TVI 'Matthew Flinders' arrived at Melbourne (Essendon) having completed its delivery flight from the United Kingdom (Hurn).

The Ansett Air Cargo Aviation Traders ATL-98A Carvair VH-INJ operated its last freight service. It was then withdrawn from use at Melbourne (Tullamarine) and prepared for sale to Australian Aircraft Sales Pty Ltd.

On This Day - June 09, 1974.

The Ansett Flying Boat Services Short S.25 Sandringham Mk.4 'Tasman Class' flying boat VH-BRC 'Beachcomber' was badly damaged at Lord Howe Island, when it broke its mooring and was blown ashore by strong winds during the night. The aircraft was dragged further up the beach to prevent further damage being casused by wave action. Plans were immediately put into place to mount a rescue effort to salvage it and return it to Sydney (Rose Bay).

On This Day - June 09, 1982.

The Trans-Austrlia Airlines Fokker F.27-6152 Friendship VH-TQQ 'David Collins' was damaged beyond repair whilst landing at Brisbane (RAAF Base Amberley). The aircraft was engaged in pilot training, simulating engine failures at the time.

On This Day - June 09, 1995.

The Ansett New Zealand de Havilland Canada DHC-8-102A ZK-NEY 'Palmerston North' was destroyed when it crashed some 30 km from Palmerston North (New Zealand), whilst on approach to land, after experiencing a landing-gear problem. One crew member and 3 passengers were killed. The aircraft had flown 22,154 hours with 24,976 cycles.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 767-338ER VH-OGR 'Port Macquarie' arrived at Sydney (Kingsford Smith) having completed its delivery flight from the United States (Paine Field, Everett) as Flight QF6094. It was the airline's 110th Boeing airliner and its 25th Boeing 767.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 737-838 VH-VXP 'Logan' entered service, operating Flight QF612 from Melbourne (Tullamarine) to Brisbane.

The ex Qantas Airways Boeing 737-376 VH-TAX, now registered as ZS-OKI, departed Melbourne (Tullamarine) on its ferry flight to South Africa (Johannesburg) in the basic 'Qantas' livery, having been sold to Comair.

The Qantas Jetconnect ceased operating domestic services in New Zealand. All services were then taken over by Jetstar Airways.

The Qantas Jetconnect Boeing 737-476 ZK-JTR operated it last New Zealand domestic service as Flight QF2772 from Queenstown to Christchurch. The aircraft was then ferried from Christchurch to Auckland later that day as Flight QF6171, where it was redeployed on Jetconnect trans-Tasman services only.
