On This Day - March 03, 1942.

The Short S.23C Empire Class flying boat G-AEUC 'Corinna' was destroyed whilst moored on the water at Broome, Western Australia, waiting to be refuelled. Nine Japanese Mitsubishi A6M2 Zeros, that were based at Koepang, Indonesia carried out the raid. A total of 15 flying boats were destroyed that morning.

The Virgin Australia Boeing 737-8FE VH-YID 'Rainbow Beach' operated its last service in the current livery as Flight VA786 from Cairns to Brisbane. It was then ferried from Brisbane to Townsville later that day for repainting by Flying Colours.

The Virgin Australia Boeing 737-8FE VH-YVA, now repainted into the Tigerair livery, was ferried from Townsville to Melbourne (Tullamarine) as Flight VA9931. It was officially leased to Tigerair on March 20 as the registered operator.
