The ex-U.S.A.A.F. Douglas C-47A-35-DL, having been acquired by the Commonwealth of Australia on July 10, 1944, was registered as VH-AFA and leased to Qantas Empire AirwaysPty Ltd.

The Qantas Airways Lockheed 749-79 VH-EAC 'Harry Hawker' was withdrawn from service to undergo conversion to a Lockheed 749A-79 standard.

On This Day - March 24, 1963.

The Qantas Airways Lockheed 1049H-01-55 VH-EAB 'Southern Horizon' operated its final freighter service, from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) to the United States (California / San Francisco). It was then ferried to Burbank the next day, where it was stored awaiting sale to Boeing. On engine shut-down the aircraft had flown 18,104 hours.

On This Day - March 24, 2001.

The Ansett Airlines Boeing 737-33A VH-CZR, acquired from British Midland Airways, arrived at Christchurch (New Zealand) having completed its delivery flight from the United Kingdom (East Midland) as Flight AN41. The pre-service overhaul was carried out by Air New Zealand Engineering.

On This Day - March 24, 2011.

The Qantas Jetconnect Boeing 737-476 ZK-JTR operated it last revenue service as Flight QF115 from Brisbane to Auckland (New Zealand). The aircraft was then withdrawn from service, and all markings were then removed in preparation for its sale to the Savegh Group.

On This Day - March 24, 2013.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 737-838 VH-VZU 'Lorne' was rolled out at Sydney (Kingsford Smith) with additional 'Qantas Loves Ellen' decals. This was to promote the Ellen Degeneres Show during Ellen's visit to Australia for filming Australian episodes of her popular show.

On This Day - March 24, 2018.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 787-9 VH-ZND 'Emily Kame Kngwarreye' operated the airline's inaugural Melbourne (Tullamarine) - Perth - United Kingdom (London, Heathrow) service as Flight QF9. The Perth - London (Heathrow) sector was the first non-stop service from Australia to the United Kingdom, being the longest flight in the Qantas network of some 14,500 kms.

On This Day - March 24, 2020.

The Qantas Airways Airbus A380-842 VH-OQJ 'Bert Hinkler' operated its last passenger service, operating Flight QF11 from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) to Los Angeles (United States). It was then withdrawn from use and stored at Los Angeles due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
