The Australian National Airways Douglas DC-3-232A 'VH-ABR' arrived at Port Melbourne as deck cargo aboard the ship S.S. Clydebank. It was tranported by road to Melbourne (Essendon) for reassembly and entry onto the Australian Aircraft Register. It was the 3rd Douglas DC-3 to be imported into Australia.

The Trans-Australia Airlines Douglas DC-9-31 VH-TJU 'John Roe' arrived at Melbourne (Tullamarine) having completed its delivery flight from the United States (Long Beach, California). It was the airline's 12th and last Douglas DC-9.

The Ansett Airlines Boeing 737-277A VH-CZP, having been withdrawn from service on October 12, departed Melbourne (Tullamarine) on its ferry flight to the United States (Seattle, Paine Field) as Flight AN554, where it was prepared for sale to the Wilmington Trust Co., and subsequent lease to America West Airlines as N181AW.
