The Qantas Airways Boeing 707-338C VH-EBQ ' City of Ballarat' arrived at Sydney (Kingsford Smith), having completed its delivery flight from the United States (Seattle, Boeing Field). It was the 17th Boeing airliner delivered to Qantas.

On This Day - September 18, 1985.

The ex-Qantas Airways Boeing 747-238B VH-EBD, now owned by the Boeing Equipment Holding Company and registered as N747BN, departed Sydney (Kingsford Smith) on its ferry flight to the United States (Wichita, Kansas) as Flight BOE608. The aircraft was then sold to People Express on September 17.

The 100th Boeing airliner delivered to Qantas Airways, the Boeing 747-438 VH-OJQ 'Mandurah' was accepted by Mr S. Collins on behalf of the airline at a special ceremony at Everett (Paine Field).

The Virgin Blue Airlines Boeing 737-8FE VH-VOO 'Bonnie Blue' arrived at Christchurch (New Zealand) on completion of its delivery flight from the United States (Seattle, Boeing Field) as Flight DJ9087 in the 'Pacific Blue' livery. During its pre-service lay-up at Christchurch, the aircraft was fitted with winglets.
