The Ansett Flying Boat Services Short S.25 Sunderland Mk 5 flying boat VH-BRF 'Islander' was test flown at Sydney (Rose Bay), following the completion of its conversion to a civilian airliner by Ansett engineers.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 707-138B VH-EBJ 'Longreach' operated its final revenue service, flying Christchurch (New Zealand) to Sydney (Kingsford Smith). This flight was also the final Qantas' Boeing 707-138B service to Christchurch. The aircraft was then withdrawn from service, having flown 22,387 hours.
