Entered onto the Australian Aircraft Register as VH-FNH - June 20, 1961

Registered to Airlines of N.S.W.

First flown as 'PH-FCU' - June 23, 1961

Accepted by Ansett-ANA at Amsterdam (Schiphol) - July 10, 1961

The aircraft was configured to seat 40 passengers

Departed Amsterdam (Schiphol) on the delivery flight to Australia - July 11, 1961

It arrived at Melbourne (Essendon) on completion of the delivery flight - July 19, 1961

Although it was intended to operate with Airlines of N.S.W. it was not transferred to them

Operated its first revenue service with Ansett-A.N.A. - July 1961

This aircraft was damaged beyond economical repair whilst landing at Launceston - March 17, 1965

During the approach problems were encountered with the port engine and propeller, which was feathered

The flight crew were unable to maintain correct runway heading and an overshoot was commenced

The speed dropped below the minimum control speed despite full power being applied to the starboard engine

The port wing struck the runway resulting in about 3 metres breaking off

As aircraft ran off the runway the starboard undercarriage and nose wheel collapsed

It came to rest some 230 metres abeam of the runway threshold with fire in port wing area

This was quickly extinguished by the airport firefighters

This accident attributed to the loss of an engine 10 minutes prior to landing and wind-sheer encountered on approach

Flight crew: Captain J. Waxman; F/O E. York

No injuries sustained by the 4 crew members and 19 passengers onboard
