This aircraft was ordered new by New Zealand National Airways Corporation - May 03, 1960 Entered onto the Dutch Aircraft Register as 'PH-FCY' - August 18, 1961 Registered to KNV Fokker NV, Schiphol-South, Netherlands First flown at Amsterdam (Schiphol) as 'PH-FCY' - August 22, 1961 This was the 76th Fokker Friendship built Accepted by New Zealand National Airways Corporation at Amsterdam (Schiphol) - August 30, 1961 Cancelled from the Dutch Aircraft Register - August 30, 1961 Entered onto the New Zealand Aircraft Register as ZK-BXE - August 31, 1961 Registered to New Zealand National Airways Corporation, Wellington Departed Amsterdam (Schiphol) on the ferry flight to New Zealand - August 31, 1961 It arrived at Paraparaumu on completion of the ferry flight - September 1961 It had to divert to Paraparaumu as the weather at Wellington (Rongatai) was unsuitable for landing New Zealand Customs staff had to make a quick journey to Paraparaumu (30 miles) to clear the aircraft Delivery route: Amsterdam - Rome - Athens - Karachi - Delhi - Calcutta - Bangkok - Zamboagna - Davao - Divak - Darwin - Mt. Isa - Brisbane - Norfolk Island - Paraparaumu - Wellington The aircraft was named 'Kahu' (swamp harrier) and later 'Kereru' (wood pigeon) This aircraft was operated on New Zealand domestic services It was the only NAC Fokker F.27 to visit Wairoa (half way between Napier and Gisborne) - January 26, 1969 It was the guest 'star' at the local air show New Zealand National Airways Corporation merged with Air New Zealand - April 01, 1978 Withdrawn from use and stored at Christchurch - April 22, 1980 The aircraft had flown 44, 402hours with 58,326 cycles Sold to Australian Aircraft Sales (NSW) Pty Ltd, Sydney - February 10, 1981 The aircraft remained stored at Christchurch Sold to Air New Zealand - November 25, 1983 The aircraft was returned to domestic services It was withdrawn from service and stored at Christchurch - November 1991 Sold to Jet Lease Inc - October 13, 1992 Leased to Continental Aviation Pty Ltd - October 18, 1992 Cancelled from the New Zealand Aircraft Register - October 30, 1992 Entered onto the Indian Aircraft Register as VT-ROY - November 02, 1992 Registered to Continental Aviation Pty Ltd t/a GoaWay Continental Aviation ceases operations - March 1993 The aircraft is stored at Bombay in the GoaWay livery Recently introduced Indian Government regulations stipulated that aircraft older than 15 years in age were not permitted to carry passengers - March 1993 Returned to Jet Lease Inc - May 01, 1993 The Certificate of Airworthiness (CofA) expires - August 14, 1994 The aircraft had flown 56,958 hours with 74,813 cycles Cancelled from the Indian Aircraft Register - ? It was observed stored at Mumbai (Santa Cruz) in the GoaWay livery - August 14, 1994 The aircraft is owned by the Airports Authority of India It was observed at Mumbai (Santa Cruz) in the GoaWay livery and the right hand engine missing - October 28, 1997 It was observed at Mumbai (Santa Cruz) basically intact - December 16, 2005 Sold to Indian Institute of Aircraft Engineering (IIAE) by auction - 2007 It was dismantled on site and transported by to the the IIAE facility - November 03, 2007 It was observed intact and parked outside the University at Delhi - 2009 This aircraft is now used as an instructional airframe in an all-white livery with a dark cheatline Current |
